Visiting Blacksburg for New Student Orientation? Orientation is the first stepping-stone in our students' transition to Virginia Tech. During their orientation program, new students will have the opportunity to register for fall semester courses, meet current and incoming Virginia Tech students, receive their personal identification card, and much more.
As the largest hotel and conference center in Blacksburg, Va., The Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center offers offers 147 hotel rooms and suites, as well as nearly 24,000 square feet of conference space, a 700-seat ballroom, and 10 conference rooms. As a conference venue, The Inn at Virginia Tech provides an in-house technology consultant to help design a plan for your event.
Each summer, Conference and Guest Services hosts more than 15,000 guests from 90 different groups in the Virginia Tech residence halls on the Blacksburg campus. Additional facilities at Virginia Tech locations around the commonwealth also may be reserved for special events.
The Holtzman Alumni Center, attached to The Inn at Virginia Tech, is home to the Virginia Tech Alumni Association. The center hosts conferences, alumni events, hotel guests, weddings, and other special events. The facility also showcases alumni and local artists in its second-floor gallery.
Voters on Southern Living's Facebook page were recently asked to name their favorite college town. The magazine's fans listed 90 communities, including Auburn, Ala., Charlottesville, Va., Morgantown, W.Va., and Tallahassee, Fla. Blacksburg won easily with more than 4,300 votes, beating out Tuscaloosa, Ala., home of the Crimson Tide, by about 1,000 votes.
